With its secluded location, elegant architecture and picturesque surroundings, is the perfect venue for any wedding reception. Each wedding at Donnington Grove Country Club is entirely bespoke. It is important to them that you have what you want for your special day, not just what the venue tells you is available. This means that you’re less likely to compromise on your dream day.
One of the unique points about Donnington Grove is that it is not yet too big in terms of being a wedding venue. What we mean by this is that it still has that personal feel about it, intimate, inclusive and service led, yet it is delivered to a very high standard and with a complete professional approach. The best way to sum this up is that Donnington Grove care about you and your day; you’re not just another wedding.
Recently Donnington Grove successful applied to hold a full licence for wedding ceremonies in Newbury. They have 3 rooms available that can cope with 45-140 people; they also have a marquee available for larger guest lists.
Donnington Grove is still primarily a golf course; golf breaks and tuition breaks are very popular. Often these are booked many months in advance, which can mean that certain weekends are not available for weddings. This means that Donnington Grove still has that aura of exclusivity, not everyone who wants to get married there can, so it definitely ticks the right boxes if you’re looking to do something different.
What we really like about Donnington Grove is the photo opportunities. As well as the old gothic mansion, there is an authentic Japanese Temple, amazing scenery, a lake, a river; it’s all there to take advantage of. Being a golf course, you don’t even have to walk anywhere because they’ll happily lend you and your photographer a golf buggy to get around in.
Donnington Grove have a fantastic head chef, so if you’re looking for something a little different for your Wedding Breakfast or food for your reception; we would recommend that you meet with him a few months prior to the big date and arrange a sampling menu. You’ll even get a chance to taste the wines before making an informed choice.

I got married at the Donnington Grove hotel in August 2009
Not only was the location of it in picture perfect surroundings but the staff were so so very friendly and so helpful.
I am a very disorganised being and so planning a wedding did not come easy for me but Dani Winslett (the wedding co ordinator) helped me with every detail making it as stress free as possible . so much so that on the day of my wedding i forgot to bring my finished version of the seating plan but when i came back from the church Dani had organised this to be done and prevented chaos from happening.
The food was the best food i have ever had at a wedding and everyone thought the same the tastes were unreal the wedding photographer even took photos of this as it was so lovely presented. I liked that they brought the children’s meals out just before the speeches as this kept the children occupied i thought that was very cleverly done.
The best part of having my wedding here was that i had my own part of the hotel which felt like it was mine we had our own bar, dance floor and dance room the marque where we had our food, the reception room for welcome drinks and also another room for the buffet, nobody could say there was no room to move that’s for sure. The grounds of the hotel were so beautiful the little white bridge over the river where the swans all swim about, which you have to cross to get to the hotel was like something out of a fairytale. The Hotel looked like an enchanted castle which was why i chose this venue for my reception. The rooms were old fashioned and unspoilt which went with the theme which was nice, and my room was sooooo big and the view was marvellous.
